Menippe mercenaria Stone crab The most sought-after commercial crab.  The crabber can take one claw only and must return the live crab to the water.

Panopeus herbstii Common mud crab Rarely grows larger than 2 inches across the carapace. Many smaller related species 
Alpheus heerochaelis Common snapping shrimp Also called pistol shrimp.  One greatly enlarged claw that create a sound that will stun small fish.  Just over 1 1/2 inches in length.
broken_back_shrimp.jpg (7455 bytes) Hippolyte pleurocanthis Broken back shrimp One of a group of small (under 2 inches in length) shrimp that inhabit grass flats.  Highly variable in color.  All have a bent abdomen.
Lysmata wurdchanni Peppermint shrimp Body streaked with prominent red lines.  A cleaner shrimp commonly found on sponges and wharf pilings.
