SOUTHWEST FLORIDA AREA EVENTS

Volunteers

We need help for these events. We currently need a volunteer for the Bay Bio Critter Search.  For many of our activities, we need people who attend them to learn about how they are run, then act as standbys or alternates.  We also need people to take leadership positions in “new” events such as meetings  (best done with several people if planning to have an outside speaker). Call Dave at 941-377-5459 if interested.

Blind Pass . . . From Beach to Lagoon.

Free nature walk from the Gulf shore to a lagoon off Lemon Bay led by Bruce Dayton, PhD, at Blind Pass Beach.

We discuss how water, wind, sand and living things interact to create our beautiful barrier islands (keys as we call them).  The biological emphasis will be on plants.  Included are beach, dune, coastal hammock and mangrove habitats. It is a fairly easy two hour stroll on  beach sand, boardwalk, and a short trail. We will meet at 9 am by the Blind Pass bath house. Approximate time is two hours. Registration is required and is limited to 15 participants.
